For this year only, I’ve been to Tagaytay for more than 3 times already since it’s only about an hour away from where I currently live. When a friend asked me to join her for a day in Tagaytay, I thought I’ll be visiting familiar places again. But I was introduced to a fairly new attraction called Puzzle Mansion. Its location was kinda hidden and we could have been lost if it wasn’t for the tricycle driver’s mastery of the directions. If you have your own vehicle, there are signs enough to assist you in finding the place.
The person behind Puzzle Mansion is Gina Gil Lacuna. Collecting puzzles was then a past time for Gina and it eventually turned into an obsession. She currently has more than 1,028 different puzzles which is being kept at Puzzle Mansion. Her passion made her into Guinness World Records for having the largest collection of jigsaw puzzles in the world. She beat the record made by Luiza Figueiredo, a Brazilian who has 238 puzzles. Gina’s record-breaking puzzle collection is now the main attraction of Puzzle Mansion Bed and Breakfast. Aside from the puzzle museum, it also offers accommodation and facilities such as swimming pool, Jacuzzi, massage area, function hall and 24-hour cafe.
Puzzle Mansion is one of the newest attractions in Tagaytay suited for the whole family. We were up close with puzzles of renowned paintings, prominent people, and animals. My favorites are the intricate 3D wooden puzzles of the world’s most famous buildings such as the Eiffel Tower, Sydney Opera House, and Taj Mahal. Enjoying all of these is not free though. We paid an entrance fee of ₱100 per person which is just reasonable. When traveling with kids, it’s best to go there on a weekend where you can catch an inspiring tour made by Gina herself. Although it was a Tuesday, I was still moved by the message that I got after we went around the museum. It might sound a bit cliché but it’s true…Dreams do come true with perseverance!
