Puerto Galera is a party goers paradise aside from being a popular beach destination. For our first wedding anniversary, we chose to be away from its colorful nightlife that it is somewhat known for. We were in a different spot where we had the opportunity to see the other side of Galera. I am pertaining to Buri Resort and Spa, a 4-star resort accessible only by boat from Muelle Port. I can’t really say that the scenic and short boat ride was a start of so much more. But we were feeling great about our one night stay at Buri Resort and Spa.
Upon arrival, we saw the resort’s staff with huge smiles promising only a luxurious and peaceful vacation. All of them were lined up to greet us while giving us welcome drinks and cold towels. On our way to our villa, I can’t help to notice their infinity pool which seems to be staring at us and inviting us for a night swimming. This activity has always been on our list whenever we’re having a short break. But we were informed that the pool will only be ready early morning on the next day. It was a big turn off…at least for a while! But they were true
to their word and we were able to use the infinity pool after breakfast. Buri Resort and Spa has quite an impressive beach which we also enjoyed along with their non-motorized water sports equipment such as the kayak. I wanted to post these activities on Instagram but getting a wifi connection can be a bit of a challenge. Although, with the resort’s set up, it’s definitely understandable. What I am worried about is the presence of big mosquitoes.
Good thing, I always have my insect repellent with me every time we travel. According to
the resort’s staff, they are doing something about it.
Buri Resort and Spa is a waterfront resort raised on a hill and accompanied by nature while bringing the much needed tranquility that we were looking for. It has 11 nipa hut-inspired villas with the calming view of the sea or the garden. These cottages come in three types namely the pool villa, family villa, and garden villa. We stayed at one of the garden Villas called Dahlia and took pictures of it with our J&J bridal initials. These ornaments which we used during our wedding will be traveling with us for our future anniversaries. There’s no other way to get to our villa but by using the stairs. The short climb was definitely worth it! The Dahlia Villa is designed for couples and equipped with a balcony, a queen size bed, an open-air shower, and an outdoor bathtub which was one of my favorite parts of the villa. Because our night swimming is not going to happen, I used the bathtub instead. Doing it outdoors with nature is a different feeling. It seems that I was healed by the trees, birds, and the cool breeze of Puerto Galera. It was like a spa treatment given to me for free. But if these are not enough, the resort offers spa services which we missed since we don’t feel that it was necessary at that time.
We appreciate that Buri Resort and Spa prepared a candlelight dinner for our first wedding anniversary. We had Fish Kinilaw, Cream of Roasted Carrot and Pumpkin, and Chicken in Red Wine Sauce. It was a different and special feeling to have dinner outdoors, close to nature, and with the man that I love. It was one of the most romantic experiences that we had in Buri Resort and Spa. For breakfast, we had Homemade Breakfast Sausage and Batangas Style Longanisa. They serve free flowing brewed coffee which I really loved. We are not very hard to please when it comes to food but I just find it too expensive. It is definitely a must to bring extra cash when staying here.
Buri Resort and Spa is one of the resorts that fit our preference when it comes to relaxation. We felt that our stay was more private and having serenity is effortless. It is located far away from the Puerto Galera’s party scene and so close to nature. It was an enjoyable stay!
